Everyone knows about lightsabers, but some will remember that other movie from '77, and how every pickup and station wagon in the midwest had a CB antennae (maybe farther out, I was 7 at the time, and can only speak for Illinois and the surrounding areas). Trucking ruled the American imagination, and Jerry Reed was a giant.
And by one small increment, America looks just one little bit less like it did when I was growin' up. Man, I miss him already.
Ya know how kids tell you what they wanna be when they grow up? Most say a fireman, a policeman, etc. I wanted to be a truck driver with a sidekick dog, no joke, all because of Mr. Reed. My truck would be loaded with beer, too. My hero. He should also be the Friday hero.
