Im shattered.
The Sea Otter in a nutshell.
Young Hightower and I rode from Santa Cruz to Monterey. At one point while traveling into the constant headwind, I glanced at my computer and I was moving along at 17 miles an hour. I stopped pedaling, and within five feet, was at a dead stop. The wind didnt let up until Sunday morning, I ate bangers and mash with bacon and cheese on it, we drank some beers, and some people rode their bikes. Travis Brown took some single speeders to school, and eventually I tried to get in a gigantic book bag.
And if you had the misfortune of missing it, reading these words and looking at the following images should fill you in on all of the most important items. Ill have a few more in the coming days, but for now, as the title indicates, I am pretty beat up.
Headwind.

Jessica.

Trek.

Homemade faux-hawk, with homemade bald spots.

Wind laid waste to moon bounce.

El Hobbleo.

6'7"

Grom.

They call it the "Stevil".

Big man, little bike, big bag.

Home sweet home.

Getting spiff.

Bobby shows off his most endearing side.

Ahren and The Skipper.

Sweet.

Goodnight.

Sea Otter is almost as played out as mustache parties.
Speaking of which, my pre-mustache/non-ironic beard is coming in quite nicely, thank you very much.

cruised by to say hello, but you were "busy" talking with a guy from a "shop" about "bikes"....how rude! Rolled in later to buy a cottenwood (I got the all clear from the S.O.) you were a memory..gone.
The crew staying at my place had a blast at the Sleaze Otter...Mortimers! hell even I dont go in there.

Deep down inside, I'm beginning to wish I'd been there this year. Way deep down... but somewhere.
I just wish I coulda been on the ride to Otter with you and Hightower. Maybe that's all I missed...

Stevil
Excellent photo-documentary on a biblical weekend. With rains that created flash floods last year, and winds that put an extra 12 kids on the sides of milk cartons this year, next year, Swobo will come prepared with an anti locust suit. We'll sell the shit out of them.
Thanks to Bruce, Stevil, Colin, Intern A, Erin, Sky and everybody else that grabbed a tent post as winds hit 50 mph. My broken body appreciated every moment.
